Betty Jean Straughn

1932 - 2011

Betty Jean Straughn, 79, of Pensacola died Sunday, May 15, 2011.

She was born to Bertie Peek and Silis Mitchell in Brantley, AL and raised by
Rev. H. U. Mullins and Doll Mullins of Pensacola.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Lonnie Mitchell and Rev.
and Mrs. Mullins.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roy L. Straughn, one daughter, Tina
Stewart (Chester); two granddaughters, Jessica Resendez and Jennifer Pitts;
seven great-grandchildren, Christian, Zachary, Jordan, Bayleigh, Desteny,
Michael and Jaide; one brother, Sam Mitchell (Wanda); two sisters, Janice
Jeffries (Jack) and Lane Bean.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011
at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Glen Anderson, Pastor of Pensacola
Baptist Temple at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2011 at the funeral home.

A private family service will be conducted at Barrancas National Cemetery.

A special thanks to the incredible caregivers under Dr. Gannon, Dr. Smith and
Betty, Director of Covenant Hospice Group in the West Florida Hospital. The
caring and compassion shown to her and her family was truly God sent.
