Nancy Jane Ward wife of George Washington Nelson came to escambia county in 
1870. She is the grandaughter Of Nancy Elizabeth Knight and John Ward . Her 
grandmother is full blood Creek Indian and grandfather 1/2 . Her father 
Tarlton Ward was born in Florida territory 1792. Many o their relatives are in 
Escambia, Walton, Santa rosa and Okaloosa Counties.She was born June 15 1836 
in Jackson County ,Mississippi and died December 1, 1921, in Pensacola, 
Escambia County ,Florida. She is buried next to her husband in St. John's 
Cemetery.
