One Thousand Nine Hundred and 27, personally appeared before me a Notary Public in and for the County and State aforesaid Mrs. [Alase] Catherine Jones, a resident of Gilchrist County of the State of Florida, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain a pension under the provisions of the General Pension Laws of Florida. That she is the lawful widow of Thomas E. Jones, who enlisted under the name of T. E. Jones on the 4th day of March, 1862, in Company F 51 Art Regiment of the State of Georgia and who was honorably discharged at Point Lookout, M.D., June 28th, 1865, on account of War over. Never Drew any Pension aA During his life there was a property limit to Confederate Soldiers and he had more property than the limit. That she was lawfully married to the said T. E. Jones, he further says, and says that he has no personal interst (sic) of the application of Mrs. Catherine Jones for pention (sic), and allso (sic) says that in June 1865, he then being 5 years old, remembers, the said T. Jones has not been found on the rolls on file in this office of Co. F, 31, Ga. Inf., C.S.A., which rolls cover the period Nov. and Dec. 1861 to Aug. 31st 1864, nor has record been found of the service, capture or parole of a man of that name and organization. The records show, however, that Thomas E. Jones, pvt., and cpl., Co. F, 51 Ga. Inf., C.S.A., enlisted Mch. 4, 1862, in Dawson, Ga., and on muster roll for Jan. and Feb. 1865, (last on file) is shown absent, “Prisoner of War.” Union Prisoner of War records show him captured Oct. 19, 1864, at Strasburg, sent to Point Lookout, Md., Oct. 24, 1864, and released at that place, on Oath of Allegiance, June 28, 1865. Jones for a few years prior to his death which occured (sic) on or about [16th. ]28th Day of [December] November 1904, and I know from personal knowledge that Mrs. Catherine Jones his wife was not divorced from him since my acquainance (sic) with him, and I am reliablely (sic) informed that they were never divorced, and I futher (sic) testify that I am persoally (sic) acquainted with Mrs. Catherine Jones since her husband death and I know that she has not remarried.
