T. Hardee, do hereby make application to the State Board of Pensions, for a pension to be granted to me under the act of 1907, Chapter 5600 of the Laws of the State of Florida, upon the following grounds: I enlisted and served in the military service of Confederate States during the war between the States of the United States, and that I did not desert the Confederate or State service; that I was a bona-fide citizen of this State for ten years prior to the date of this application and have been continuously since a citizen of the State of Florida, and that I am over sixty years of age, and by reason of my age am unable to earn a livelihood by manual labor. I further represent to the State Board of Pensions, that I am not receiving a pension from any other State. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this fourth day of November A. D., 1907. How long have you been a citizen of the State of Florida? 12 years 4. When and where and in what organization did you enlist during the war between the States? enlisted July 1864 in Prudens Independent Battalion, Capers Battalion at Milledgeville, Ga. 5. Give the name of your Captain at time of your enlistment. H. H. Pruden 6. Give the name of your Captain at time of your discharge from service. H. H. Pruden 7. Give the name of your Battalion or Regimental Commander both at time of your enlistment and discharge from service. Maj. Capers 8. If you enlisted in the navy give name of your Commanding officer, date of enlistment and place of service 9. If discharged prior to the termination of the war, state place and cause of discharge. 10. If you lost an eye or limb during your service in the war, state when and where and in what engagement you sustained such injury. 11. If you received a wound during your service in the war, which permanently disables you, state when and where you received the wound. 12. Describe the wound and state how it affect you. Thomas T. Pruden, who being duly sworn deposes and says, that he was a Commissioned Officer in Prudens Independant Battery, Johnsons' Army of Confederate Army the organization to which the within named applicant for pension under the laws of Florida belonged and in which he served during the war between the States. This deponent further says that the said T. T. Hardee rendered faithful service as a Confederate soldier or sailor during the war between the States, and that the disability claimed by the said T. T. Hardee to exist, does in fact exist and the same prevents him permanently from gaining a livelihood by manual labor. Unsigned (FORM D) STATE OF GEORGIA} County of Clay} Before me personally came J. W. Sutton, who being by me first duly sworn, depose and say, for himself, that he is a citizen of the County of Clay in the State of Georgia, and that he was a soldier of Pruden Battery Capers Battalion regiment in the service of the Confederate States during the war between the States, and that said T. T. Hardee was a member of said regiment; that he is acquainted with T. T. Hardee, the applicant named in the foregoing petition for a pension; that he knows that the said T. T. Hardee rendered the service as soldier or sailor for the Confederate States during the war between the States as set forth in the foregoing petition for a pension. That he did not desert the Confederate army, and that the disability claimed by him to exist, does in fact exist and prevents him from earning a livelihood for himself, and these deponents being further sworn true answer to make to the following questions, deposes each for himself and answers as follows: 1. Where do you reside? Ft. Gaines, Clay Co., Ga. 2. Are you acquainted with the within named applicant for a pension, if so, what is his name? Where does he reside? and how long has he resided in this State? Thomas T. Hardee, he resided in Clay Co., Ga up to about 12 or 15 years age, I am informed he has resided in Fla. years past & now a resident of Fla. 3. To what military organization did the within named applicant belong during the war between the States? Pruden's Independent Battery, Capers Battalion 4. Did he render the service to the Confederate States during the war, as claimed in the foregoing answers by him? Yes 5. Where were you when your organization surrendered? Milledgeville, Ga. 6. Was the applicant present? he was 7. If not, where was he? and why was he not present? 8. When did he leave the Command? For what cause? 9. What is the nature and character of the applicant's wounds or disease? 10. What is the applicant's occupation and physical condition? Don't know, I haven't seen him in sometime. Jno. W. Sutton J. A. H. Pruden, to me well known and who being sworn says under oath, that he was a commissioned officer in Prudens Independent Battery, Capers Batallion [sic] Johnsons army, of the Confederate Army, and that T. T. Hardee, who now makes application for a pension under the laws of Florida, was a member of the said orginization, [sic] in which orginization he served in the war between the states, that the said T. T. Hardee rendered faithful service as a confederate soldier during said war, Affiant further sworn says, that he is informed and verliy [sic] believes that T. T. Thornton, to me well known, who being duly sworn says, that he is a citizen of Fulton County Georgia, that he served as a soldier in the late war between the states, that he served in the ____, Prudens Battery, Capers Batalion [sic] in the service of the Confederate States during said war, That he knows T. T. Hardee, whom he is advised is making application for a pension in Florida, That said T. T. Hardee rendered services as a confederate soldier, in the same battery that I did. The said T. T. Hardee did not desert the Confederate Service. Affiant being further sworn says, in reply to the several questions below, as follows, Question I. What is your name age and place of residence: E. H. Thornton 60 years old May 31 1908 Atlanta, Ga. (2) Do you know T. T. Hardee. Yes Did you know him during the late war between the states. Yes, Pruden Battery for Ga. Caper Battalion (part of the time) If yes, state if you know to what military orginization he belonged, and who was in Command. Capt. Pruden in Command of Battery and Maj. Caper Command of Battalion when we were with them. Pruden Battery was an independent one. Where did you surrender, if you did surrender, where did you leave the army, was the applicant present, and if not where was he. Answer At the latter part of the war our battery passed through the Georgia Campaign, crossed over from Savannah into Carolina and camped for a while at Agusta. [sic] We then returned to Millidgville [sic] just before Shermans march to the sea, about this time I obtained a furlough and went home, on my return to the Command at Milledgville I learned at Macon that General Lee had surrendered, there were several of the Command with me at the time and in about two weeks thereafter we were ordered to Macon where we were parolled by the United States Government, I do not now remember whether or not Mr. T.
