The Green Cemetery is located in the Suwannee River State Park. The park spans three counties, Hamilton, Madison and Suwannee. Green Cemetery is in the extreme northerly portion of the park which lies in Hamilton County. Hamilton County Property Appraiser Parcel 5096-000 in Sect 13 Twp 1S Range 11E. The easiest route (per Trail Map provided to trail hikers and riders by the Park Dept.) is to access the service road running along the south side of SW CR 141 at the approach to the bridge over the Withlacoochee River, on the Hamilton County side of the bridge. It is necessary to park vehicles on the south side of the bridge on the Madison County side and walk over the bridge to the unpaved service road on the Hamilton County side. The south service road leads to the gate entering private property. To reach the Green burial location requires a 2 mile hike on a trail from CR 141 through private property and on into the forest on Suwannee River State Park to the burial site. There were reportedly ten to twelve burials there, but the headstones no longer exist. There is only a pipe in the ground designating the burial site. As of March 2011 no information has been obtained on individuals buried there. The volunteer park trail guide advised that local lore tells that the Green family visited the area to spend several months fishing. They would return to Jasper to sell the fish. Those who died while they were sojourning there were buried in the cemetery. Compiled March 15, 2011 by Lesleigh Laite Butts of Jasper, Florida.
