MORTUARY STATEMENT.  From January 1, 1889, to date(Aug. 1, 1889).  
Tampa Journal Aug. 1,1889.

The following statement was compiled from the record kept by Mr. M. 
Lovengreen, the only undertaker in this section.  It is a complete list 
of all the deaths which have occurred in Tampa and vicinity for the 
seven months ending with yesterday.  At least 12,000 people are 
included in the territory represented in the record.  This it will be 
seen, puts our death rate at the phenomenally low figure of 1 percent.  
And a glance at the causes will put a still more favorable aspect on 
the report.

incident to advance age.
Ms. Mary E. Carncross, January 11, 48 years; consumption, with 
intercurrent brain trouble.

Marquar A. Futch, January 9, 27 years; cause of death unknown.
