Widow's Pension Claim
Under General Pension Law Of Florida

On this 2nd day of December, A. D. One Thousand Nine Hundred and twenty-nine, 
personally appeared before me a notary public in and for the County and State 
aforesaid Betty Smith a resident of Vero Beach County of Indian River State of 
Florida, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in 
order to obtain a pension under the provisions of the General Pension Laws of Florida.

That she is the lawful widow of Geo. Smith.  For proof of husband's war service 
refer to Pension No. 8867, filed in the Comptroller's Office, Tallahassee.

That she was lawfully married to the said George Smith under the name of Betty 
Cousins in the County of Orange State of Florida on the 17th day of December, 1893, 
and that she was not divorced from him nor has she remarried since his death, which 
occurred on the 15th day of November, 1929, in the County of Indian River, State of 
Florida except as hereinafter stated.

That she is a resident of Indian River County, Florida, and has continuously resided 
in the State of Florida since the ____ day of every since she was 3 years old or sixty
four years.

That she was heretofore granted a pension from the State of Florida under Certificate 
No. (none).  That she is not a pensioner of any other State.

That her Postoffice address is Route # 1 Box 15, Vero Beach, County of Indian River,
State of Florida.

certify that the above declaration, etc., was made known and fully explained to the

appeared Mrs. L. A. Depew and Mrs. John Blanton, who, being duly sworn according to 
law, deposes and says each for herself that she was present at the marriage of 
George Smith and Betty Cousins which occurred at Kissimmee, on the 17th day of 
December, A. D. 1893, in the County of Orange, State of Florida, and that the 
ceremony was performed by Rev. Baldwin.

Report of County Commissioners

We, the undersigned, County Commissioners in and for the County of Indian River, 
Florida, do hereby report that at a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners 
held this day, the foregoing application of Betty Smith for a pension under the 
Laws of Florida, was investigated by us; that we are satisfied that the applicant 
has been a bona fide citizen of the State of Florida for eight years just preceding 
the date of this application, and that the representations made in the petition and 
affidavits are true, and that a pension should be granted the applicant.
