mathias porter, community leader of the scott town indian settlement in 
jackson county florida. his parents were lumbee indians from robeson county 
north carolina. he is listed there in an indexed referance as "fullblood 
indian from florida". scott towns school was listed as colored by jackson 
county during the jim crow era.
