Mr. Lyons was a life long resident of Lafayette County. He maintained a family farm until he retired. He was a member of Riverside Baptist and served the Church as a Deacon. A son, James Nolan Lyons, preceded James William Lyons in death. Survivors include his wife of nearly seventy years, Willow Lee (Bell) Lyons, of Mayo, one son Roland Lyons and one daughter Eliza Jackson, both of Mayo; two sisters Mattie Peele of Dunedin and Verlin Bradford of Clearwater, Florida; three brothers Charles Lyons of Mayo, Bob Lyons of Fort Myers Florida and Elderidge Lyons of Lake Park, Georgia; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services and interment will be at Riverside Baptist Church, Lafayette County, Florida, January 22, 1999.
