One Thousand Nine Hundred and Nine, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public in and for the County and State aforesaid Mrs. Sarah J. Adams, a resident of Lady lake County of Lake, State of Florida, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain a pension under the provisions of Chapter 5885, Laws of Florida, approved June 7, 1909. That she is the widow of Jesse T. Adams who was enlisted under the name of Jesse T. Adams on the ________ day of March, 1862, in Company C 7th Fla. Regiment of the State of Florida and who was honorably discharged at the surrender of Johnson’s Army, 1865, on account of ________________________________________________. That he was disabled by wound Dec. 16th, 1864, Battle of Nashville. That she was lawfully married to the said Jesse T. Adams under the name of Miss Sarah J. McCollum in the County of Hart, State of Georgia, on the 30th day of September, 1858, and that she was not divorced from him and that she has not remarried since his death, which occurred on the 1st day of November, 1903, in the County of Lake, State of Florida. That she is a resident of Lake County, Florida, and has continuously resided in the State of Florida since the _______ day of December, 1859. *********************************************************************** That she does not own property, including real estate, personal property, mortgages or other collateral securities, stocks or bonds in this or any other State to exceed the value the sum of Five Thousand Dollars. On information filed before the Justice of the Peace of the proper district by any person whomsoever, stating that certain persons have made no adequate provision for their father and mother, or either of them, the Justice shall cause a summons to be issued to said parties, and evidence to be taken as to the truth of the facts stated in the information, and if the same shall be found true, after a fair trial in which the defendants shall have the right to be heard by counsel, the Justice shall issue an order making an assessment on the said children for such amount as be necessary for the support of their parents. 2079. Adams, age 66 years, who being by me duly sworn, declares he is the identical person who enlisted on or about the 16th day of March, 1861, in Captain Duhling (?) Company, County of Alashua, in the State of Florida and that while in actual service in said company C. 7th Fla. Regiment, of the State of Florida, and in line of duty as such soldier at Nashville, State of Tennessee, on or about the 16th day of December, 1864. I was wounded by a rifle through the throat which passed entirely through my throat and my breathing and power of eating is very much damaged and impaired to such extent as to cause me serious trouble and pain which has very much increased as age advances, it quite incapacited me from manual labor and that as a direct result of said injuries, thus received in line of duty during the war, I am now unable to gain a livelihood by manual labor; that I have continuously since January 1st, 1880, been a citizen of Florida, that neither I, nor my wife, nor both combined, own real and personal property in the value of $600 in this or any other State, and have not purposely disposed of our property for the purpose of availing ourselves of the provisions of the pension laws of Florida; that I am not otherwise enabled, or in a position to earn, and have no income from any source sufficient for, a livelihood, and that I have no children or other relation able so to do, and whose legal duty it is to support me, and that I never deserted the Confederate service, and that I receive a pension from no other source.
