Retired Army Lt. Col. Walter Kirkland, 72, of Yalaha. Survivors include his 
wife, Helen; daughters, Kathy Harris of Yalaha, Kate Garter of Fort Meyers and 
Tina Apicella of Gainesville; sister, Ocie Johns of Leesburg; five 
grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Additional Comments:
He was the manager of Nokomis Septic tank in Nokomis from  1970 to 1978.



He will be buried in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with full military 
honors.
