John Chaarles Melson, 72, of Leesburg. Survivors include his wife, Jane L.; 
daughter, Jennifer Ann Rutschow of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sons, Jon of 
Scottsdale, Ariz. Mark of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Keith of Sister Bay, Wis., and 
Robert of Savannah, Ga.; sisters, Najil Steiner of Grass Valley, Calif., Myrna 
Hagen of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Beverly Hagen of Racine, Wis., Bonnie Nelson 
of White Hall, Wis.; brothers, Donald and Chrisney of Indiana, Wayne of 
Janesville, Wis., Rodney of Mazomanie, Wis., and Neil of Sparta, Wis.; six 
grandchildren; one great grandchild.

Additional Comments:
He was a teacher with the public school system in Mondovi, Wis., and also 
Leesburg High School.



He retired as a major in the Air Force with 20 years of service, serving in 
Korea and Vietnam.



He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal; also a Methodist.
