He has done work for municipalities and private corporations all over the country, and for a number of years has been in charge of the municipal engineering at Fort Myers. He was born in Woodford County, Illinois, January 18, 1859, son of DANIEL H. and LOUISA A.(BLY)DAVISON. His father was born in Rensselaer County, New York, of English ancestry. The family moved to Illinois in 1858. DANIEL H. DAVISON was also a civil engineer, and had an extensive practice in his profession in many parts of Illinois. He also owned a farm in Woodford County, where he died. JOSEPH A. DAVISON was educated in grammar and high schools, and learned his profession under his father. For a time he was connected with a business at Geneva, New York, manufacturing photograph cameras. After his marriage in 1882 he went out to Sheridan, Montana, and was engaged in general contracting for two years. Mr. DAVISON, for a number of years, had his home at Polo in Ogle County, Illinois. He did work as a building contractor and architect, but mainly was engaged in engineering for municipalities and in various forms of public instruction. He filled many important engagements for coal mining companies. Mr. DAVISON came to Fort Myers in 1909. He has since done an extensive practice in engineering over this section of the state. At Arcadia he designed and handled all the engineering problems in connection with the establishment of street grades and the laying out of water and sewer systems. Mr. DAVISON, in January, 1882, married LILLA E FERRIN, a native of Concord, New Hampshire, and daughter of HENRY K. and LORETTA (SANBORN) FERRIN. Their oldest child is LORETTA, wife of RAY HEDRICK, of Polo, Illinois, and she is the mother of three children. HARRY K., associated in business with his father, married SUE ELLEN WELCH, and they have two children, named KIMBLE and HELEN. The other child is ELBERT, of Polo, Illinois, who married EVA DONALDSON and has one daughter. Mr. DAVISON is a Presbyterian, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and is a democrat. His son HARRY represents the business in the Rotary club.
