 C. Daniel Gibson died at Lee Memorial Hospital, Ft. Myers, FL on Thursday, 
November 3, 2011 as a result of a head injury from a fall on October 24 at his 
home in Fort Myers.
 Dan was born to Carl and Hester Gibson on August 23, 1945. He was born a 
Virginian and his love for the south was reflected in everything he did in his 
life. Following graduation from Jefferson High School in Roanoke, Virginia, he 
began a career with the local telephone company, retiring as an engineer in 
1992.
 In March 2009, Dan and his wife of 38 years purchaed a winter home in Fort 
Myers. 
 Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Faith 
United Methodist Church, Ft. Myers. A celebration of the life of C. Daniel 
Gibson will be in May 2012, at Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church in 
Vinton, Virginia. Oakey's Funeral Home in Vinton, Virginia is assistanting 
with the funeral arrangements.
