 Jean Adele Janssen, 88, of North Fort Myers, FL passed away on November 29, 
2011 at Hope Hospice House. She was born on August 9, 1923 in Marseilles, 
Illinois to Evelyn and Howard William Boyle, Sr. Jean was the oldest of three 
children. She graduated from Oak Park High School and enlisted in the Navy 
WAVES in 1942. Jean served in Hawaii during the war as a clerk. At a skating 
rink on Hickam Field, she met a dapper Private First Class, from Mississippi, 
John H. Swain Jr. Jean and John were married after the war in Jackson, 
Mississippi. After the death of her first husband, Jean married her second 
husband, on November 23, 1972 in her parent's home in Lombard, Illinois. Jean 
and her husband both retired from the post office in 1986 and moved to North 
Fort Myers, FL. 
 Jean is survived by her husband and three loving children. She also leaves 
several step-children, grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and nieces and 
nephews.  Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, John H. Swain Jr., 
her sister Beverly Gadrow, her brother, Howard W. Boyle,Jr., and grandson Mark 
Navratil, her son-in-law Carl Navratil, brother-in-law Fred Janssen and sister-
in-law Annette Brady,
 Visitation will be held at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on 
Monday, December 5, 2011 from 11 am to 1 pm. The entombment and will deserved 
military honors will follow.
