 Joanne "Josie" (Carpenter) Landsteiner passed away peacefully on December 9, 
2011 at the age of 94. Josie moved to Florida from New England in the 1980's, 
first to Naples and then Fort Myers with her husband Dr. Ernest K. "Landy" 
Landsteiner.
 Josie is survived by her daughter, son, and three grandchildren. 
 Josie was born in Massachusetts and grew up in Cuba where her father managed 
a sugar plantation. She was a graduate of Radcliffe College. An accomplished 
cook, Josie loved to entertain and her famous dinner parties were a major part 
of her life. Josie was sustained in her long struggle with Parkinson's disease 
by her resilient and tenacious spirit and unique sense of humor.
