 Carolyn M. Meeks died in her sleep on February 19, 2012 in Fort Myers, FL at 
the age of 84.
 Carolyn was born May 9, 1927 in Sumter, South Carolina to Samuel M. Hunter 
III and Carrie M. Hunter. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, 
son Jeff Whatley; husband Richard W. Meeks and brother Sam M. Hunter.
 She is survived by her daughter, son-in-lsw, granddaugher, and brother.
 Carolyn attended Auburn University where she earned her Bachelors of Science 
degree. She married T.J. Whatley in 1948 and began teaching in and around 
Dothan, Alabama. In 1951 she earned her pilots license. She and her husband 
moved to Ft. Myers in 1954. She then taught physical Education at Fort Myers 
High School for 33 years. She also earned her Masters Degree.
 The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 
Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Parl with Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m 
Friday at the Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation 
of America.
