She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family. A true coal miner's daughter, she grew up in the community of Springdale, West Virginia. After graduating from Concord College in Athens, WV Eleanor and her husband moved to Atlanta where she was aan elementary school teacher for over twenty years. When she and her husband moved to Sanibel Island,FL she and her husband were co-owners of the Tarpon Bay Marina. They later moved their business to Ft Myers,FL where they ran Tarpon Bay Shell Shop until their retirement in 2004. Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband, Mack Hamby, Jr. She is survived by her sister, four children and their families, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. There will be a visitation on Friday from 1-2:00 pm at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. followed by burial in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
