 Evelyn Schlager, 84, passed peacefully in her sleep at Hope Hospice in Ft. 
Myers, FL on December 29, 2011.
 She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, two sons and their 
families and three grandchildren.
 She and her husband moved to Cape Coral, FL in 1989 from Cherry Hill, NJ. She 
was born in Philadelphia and graduated from the Mt. Sinai School of Nursing. 
While a mother of two, she attended and graduated from the University of 
Pennsylvania School of Nursing and received her BSN. She was the first 
Director of Nurses at the new JFK hospital in south NJ where she was part of 
the creation of that nursing program. Disabled at a young age, she volunteered 
to write braille books for the blind, filed with the Library of Congress. 
 Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 11 am at Ft. Myers 
Memorial Gaden, Ft. Myers.
