He was a member of the West Virginia Surface Mining Association. He was a Gideon, a Mason and a Shriner and a U.S Navy Veteran who served in WWII as a Lieutenant JG with the Pacific Ocean Fleet and received a Medal for Heroism. He came from a long lineage of coal miners. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, four sons and a daughter and their families, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Lee Memorial Park Funeral Home, Fort Myers on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive guests beginning at 9:00 a.m at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Lee Memorial Park Cemetery, Ft. Myers.
