Sibert, age 93, a resident of Fort Myers, FL passed away as a result of complication of a fractured pelvis. Born in Indianapolis, IN, he graduated from Anderson College in Anderson, IN in 1940.He entered the U.S Army Flying Cade Program and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on May 29, 1941. On June 11, 1942, he was on mission dropping the first American bombs in the European Theater. Prior to completion of 32 combat missions in the Middle East Theater, he was promoted to Major and Squadron Commander. He was awarded the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Presidental Unit Citation. Following military service he earned two graduate degrees at Indiana University. He returned to Anderson College as Chairman of the Physical Education Department. In 1951 he was appointed Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prior to retirement in 1972, he was Senior Resident Agent at Hyattsville, MD. James beloved wife of 62 years, Esther G. Sibert, died in 2005. He is survived by a son three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A small graveside service was held at Lee Memorial Park on April 9, 2012. A memorial service and reception to celebrate his life will be held at Cypress Lake United Methodist Church, Ft.
