 Lew Smith, 78, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in Ft. Myers, FL. He 
was born on January 1, 1934 in Jackson, MI to Osgood and Elizabeth Smith. He 
was raised on the family farm along with his four brothers.
 Lew had a distinguished 33 year career with the Michigan State Police, rising 
to the rank of Major. After retiring Lew and his wife moved to Ft. Myers.
 Lew is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, three daughters and a son and 
their families, three brothers, ten grandchildren and a greatgrandson.
 He was preceded in death by his brother, Allan Smith.
 A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in East Lansing, MI 
on Monday, January 30 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M.In 
lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Hospice, Bonita 
Springs, FL. Arrangement are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home.
