Tilley, passed away on May 2, 2012. He was born in Maplewood, NJ on January 15, 1916 and graduated from Toms River High School. He married Mary Ryan and together they had three sons. Mary passed away very young. WWII began shortly thereafter, and Lou enlisted in the USAF. He flew 34 missions over Germany as a B-17 pilot, leaving his boys in the care of his elder sister.. Lou was awarded the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. After the liberation of Paris, France he met his second wife. She adopted his three sons and together they produced a daughter and remained married for 66 years until Lou's death at the age of 96. In Slidell, LA, Lou started Gulf Coast Towing Company.After retirement he and his wife moved to Cape Coral, FL. Lou became involved in real estate,building condominums, building sail boats and in Mel Fisher's Treasure Salvors. He donated all of the proceeds of his share of the treasure to the Miami istorical Museum. He also founded Brighten The Corners, a trust that sends worthy high school students to college and which is being funded posthumously by his estate. Lou is survived by his wife, and three of their four children, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild. Their oldest son, Frederick Leslie Tilley passed away in 2009. Visitation will be held from 3-5pm on Monday May 7, 2012 at the Fuller Metz Funeral Home, Cape Coral, Fl.
