He moved to Fort Myers, FL in 1955 and then to Sanibel Island, Fl in 1976. He was born in Blanchester, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio State and the University of West Virginia, where he met his wife, Margaret Gibbs Wigingon, who preceded him in death. He served our country during the World War II as a Major in the Army Infantry. He served in French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Naples-Foggia and Anzio Beach Head. He was awarded three purple hearts and five battle campaign stars.After being injured in 1946 he continued to serve as an instructor at Command and General Staff School in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. As a Fort Myers resident, Letcher was a real estate broker and was President of Michigan Homes for the remainder of his career. He was preceded in passing by his son, Letcher (Gibby) Wigington III and daughter, Jennifer Jane Wigingon. He is survived by his daughter and her family, five grandchildren and give great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 4-6 p.m at the Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home, Ft. Myers,FL. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 21, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow with military honors at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.
