Directions and mileage are from Bristol, the county seat. The intersection of Highway 20 and Highway 12 South (at the traffic light) is the starting point. Armstrong Cemetery (near Equaloxic Creek) Location: Leave Bristol on 12 south. Travel 12 South to C-333 (about 8 miles). Turn onto C-333 for about 4 miles. On the right, locate a two-rut road which begins west, then soon turns northward to a small, fenced, family cemetery. Names & Dates: James A. Armstrong 04-15-1845 03-31-1881 Elizabeth Armstrong 11-03-1846 01-06-1924 Jennie Armstrong 11-28-1867 03-24-1933 Also five unmarked graves Bethel Church and Cemetery (Near Torreya Park Road, Rock Bluff; for Blacks) Location: Leave Bristol on 12 North; travel almost four miles to Junction C-270. Turn left onto C-270 and travel for about ten miles to an unpaved road which turns left from C-270. Bethel Church and Cemetery are located on the right, about two-tenths of a mile on this unpaved road. The cemetery is behind the church. Black Family Cemetery (See McNair Cemetery) Blue Creek Cemetery Location: From Bristol, travel Highway 20 East to Liberty County 2224; about 16.5 miles. Turn right onto 2224; go 1.3 miles to a sign on the left; United Methodist Church, Blue Creek. Turn left at the sign on an unpaved road, then the Church and Cemetery are visible. This is a well maintained, fenced, large cemetery. Family names include: Story, O'Neal, Fischer, Loney, Duncan, Duggar, Mercer, Atkinson Stoutamire, Johnson, Blackburn and Bradwell. Bristol Cemetery Location: From the Liberty County Courthouse (on Highway 20) turn North. Go two blocks to a large cemetery at the corner of Spring and Church Streets Cemetery (Unnamed near Sumatra) Location: From Bristol, travel to Sumatra on Highway 12 South and C- 379. About three-tenths of a mile before C-379 junctions with Highway 65, locate an unpaved, graded road on the right. Turn onto graded road and a small cemetery is located on the right. The headstones are visible from Highway C-379. Cleve Smith and several others are buried here. Chason Cemetery (Near Highway C-67 South) Location: Travel from Bristol to Hosford on Highway 20 East; 11 miles. At Hosford, turn right onto Highway 65 South; then go to intersection C-67 at Telogia; about three miles from Hosford. Turn left onto C-67 and travel about 9.5 miles. Then, look for a wide, unpaved road which turns left. After turning left, go about seven-tenths of a mile. When this road forks, bear left. Go two-tenths of a mile to the fenced, family cemetery on the right. There are many Chasons and Browns here, quite a few were born in the 1800s, including Joseph Chason, 1823-1886. There are about 50 graves, many markers are illegible. Names & Dates: Joseph Chason 1823 1886 Driver Cemetery (Near Telogia) Location: From Bristol, travel to Hosford on Highway 20 East; 11 miles. At Hosford, turn right onto Highway 65 South. Stay on 65 South for about 1.5 miles to Junction 67-A. Turn left onto 67-A; continue for one miles to a paved road. Turn right. The cemetery is about two- tenths of a mile on the left. many of the Ward, Pullam, and Hosford families are here. Some of the headstones are very old; as early as 1811-1878 and 1832-1882. There are about 50-60 graves. Eureka Cemetery (Orange, Fl.) Location: Leave Bristol on Highway 12 South and travel 13.7 miles to where C-379 begins. Stay on C-379 for 1.3 miles to the Eureka Cemetery and Presbyterian Church. The fenced cemetery includes family names: Smith, Gunn, Wilder, Lewis, Summers and others. Names & Dates: Smith Gunn Wilder Lewis Summers Evans Cemetery (Near Telogia) Location: From Bristol, go to Hosford on Highway 20 East, 11 miles. Turn right at Junction 65 South. Stay on 65 South for about 1.5 miles to C67-A. Turn left onto C67-A and drive 1.9 miles to Junction C-67. Turn left onto C-67 South for eight-tenths of a mile. The Evans family cemetery is located on the right, very near the road. At this time, the cemetery serves only the John and Minnie Clay Evans family. The cemetery contains about 14 graves, including four infants. Names & Dates: Evans Forehand Cemetery (See Sanders Cemetery) Garden of Eden Cemetery (One grave) Location: hidden in a grove of cypress trees in a thick swamp in Liberty County, near Bristol, FL. On a crude stone is this inscription: "In memory of Ann Smith, born October 20, 1811, died September 30, 1837. Age 26 years, 11 months, and 10 days." (Information taken from newspaper article.) Names & Dates: Ann Smith Glenn Cemetery (See Thomas Cemetery) GoodHope Cemetery (Highway C-67 South) Location: From Bristol, go to Hosford on Highway 20 East, 11 miles. Turn right onto 65 South and travel 1.5 miles to Junction C67-A. Turn left onto C67-A and continue to C-67 South, about 1.9 miles. Turn left onto 67 South and continue for about 6.5 miles. Look alongside 67 South for a sign (on the left): United Methodist Church: Good Hope. Turn left onto this unpaved, sand road. the Church and Cemetery are located three-tenths of a mile from the highway. The attractive, small, old church and cemetery are fenced and well-kept. Names in the cemetery include: Doublery, Stokes, Story, Furr, John Wynn, Brown, Faircloth, Chester (20 or more), Finck, Beck, Whitehead and others. The earliest burial is 1857. Names & Dates: Douberley Stokes Story Furr John Wynn Brown Faircloth Chester Finck Beck Whitehead Gregory Neil Gentry Cemetery (White Springs) Location: This is a family cemetery for the Parley S. Shuler family; located on Highway 20 East, four miles from Bristol. After crossing Telogia Creek Bridge (almost four miles east of Bristol), look for the first paved road turning right (the road is not numbered). Turn right off Highway 20 onto this paved road and go about one block to an unpaved road to the left which parallels Highway 20. Run left onto unpaved road to located the cemetery located on the right. As of 1986, there are five graves, including Parley Sunshine Shuler. Names & Dates: Parley Sunshine Shuler 07-08-1904 10-17-1979 Hosford Cemetery Location: From Bristol, go on Highway 20 east for 11 miles. At Hosford, turn right onto Highway 65 South and continue one-half mile to a large cemetery which is on the right. Humility Cemetery (Near Equaloxic Creek; for Blacks) Location: Leave Bristol on 12 South and travel to C-333; about eight miles. Stay on C-333 for about 6.5 miles. The Humility Cemetery borders C-333 on the right. John Langston Cemetery (See Langston Cemetery) Kenneth E. Strickland Cemetery (One-grave ) Location: Located on Highway 20 East (2.3 miles from the intersection of Highway 20 and 12 in Bristol). The grave is on the north side of Highway 20 East. Names & Dates: Kenneth E. Strickland 11-12-1964 04-24-1985 Kent Cemetery (Lowry - Near Hosford) Location: This cemetery is surrounded by private property. It is only accessible if a key is obtained from Clerk of the Court. Leaving Bristol, travel on Highway 20 East to Hosford, 11 miles. At intersection of Highway 20 and 65 North, turn left onto 65 North. Go 3 miles (past Big Creek Bridge and railroad crossing. Immediately beside the railroad, turn right onto unpaved road which leads to two gates. The key unlocks the gate to the left. The cemetery is about one mile beyond this gate. It is a small cemetery, predominantly used by the Kent family. Lake Mystic Cemetery (Near Bristol) Location: From Bristol, take highway 12 South for 2.5 miles. A large cemetery, on the left is located near the Lake Mystic Baptist Church. Langston Cemetery Location: This cemetery is entirely surrounded by the Apalachicola national Forest. It is located about 22 miles southeast of Telogia, on Highway 67 South near the Ochlockonee River. Names & Dates: John Langston Emily Langston (wife) Caleb Langston (son) Love's Private Cemetery Location: One mile west from Highway 65 on Chester St., left on Tom Love Road, First place on left, Hosford Fl. Names & Dates: Helen Stanley Love buried July 21, 1982 McNair Cemetery (Hosford Area) Location: From Bristol, travel Highway 20 East to Hosford, about 11 miles to Junction 65 South. Travel on 65 south about seven-tenths of a mile to the Junction of Liberty County road 2224 (Blue Creek Road). Turn left onto 2224, cross railroad, then travel about 3.5 miles to a sign (in 1986): Hoosier Trailer Park and Retirement Village. Turn onto this unpaved road which leads straight away from 2224. The fenced cemetery is about three-tenths of a mile on the unpaved road, on the left. About ten adults and one child are buried here. Names & Dates: McNair Family Black Family Mitchem Cemetery (Near Bristol) Location: Leave Bristol on Highway 20 East and go 2 miles to Junction C-379. The cemetery is located near the corner of C-379 and Highway 20 East. Mormon Cemetery (See Pleasant Hill Cemetery) Parley Shuler Cemetery (See Gregory Neil Gentry Cemetery) Pea Ridge Cemetery (See Pleasant Hill Cemetery) Pleasant Hill Cemetery (Near Bristol) Location: From Bristol, take Highway 20 East to Junction of County Road C-379, about two miles. Turn right onto C-379 and go 1.6 miles to an unpaved road on the left. Turn left to the Cemetery, about one- tenth of a mile. Names & Dates: Deason Peddie Henderson Land given by William A.Deason John Revell Cemetery (One grave) Location: Blanton Farm, private property on Highway 12 South and C- 379. River Styx Cemetery (Near Bristol) Location: Leave Bristol on Highway 12 South to C-379; a distance of about 13.7 miles. Travel on C-379 for 11.3 miles. Turn right onto an unpaved road. (In 1986 there was a sign: White Oak Landing.) Stay on this unpaved road (bear right at cattle crossing) for 1.5 miles. Just before a bridge, look left for the cemetery located about 100 yards away on a hill. Turn left onto C-270 and travel 10.5 miles to Junction S-271. Turn right onto S-271 and drive 1.5 miles to a paved road (not numbered) turning to left. The cemetery is four-tenths of a mile on unnumbered road, beside the Rock Bluff Assembly of God Church. Names & Dates: Barber Dalton Dyer Goodson Howell Jackson Lewis Phillips Shiver Others Rock of Will Church and Cemetery (Near Rock Bluff, for Blacks.) Location: Leave Bristol on Highway 12 North. Travel four miles to Junction C-270. Turn left and travel 10.5 miles to Junction S-271. Turn right, go about two miles for a paved road (not numbered) leading left from C-270. Turn onto this road and go about one-half mile to a white, frame church on the right. The cemetery is not visible from the church, but can be seen by staying on the paved road and looking right past the church. Sanders Cemetery (Near Hosford) Location: Travel Highway 20 East from Bristol. Go about 10.5 miles, then turn right onto a paved road (not numbered). Sanders Cemetery is a fenced cemetery about two-tenths of a mile on the right. Shuler (William O. Sr.) (See William Olin Shuler, Sr. Cemetery) St. Mary's Cemetery (Near Telogia) Location: This cemetery is part of the Stokes Plantation and is not accessible without permission. The cemetery is located five miles south of Telogia on Highway 67 South near Big Branch Bridge. St. Stephens Church and Cemetery (Sweetwater Community, for Blacks) Location: Leave Bristol on Highway 12 North and travel four miles to Junction C-270. Turn left onto C-270 and continue four miles to a large cemetery on the left; across the road from St. Stephens Church. Sumatra Cemetery Location: Leave Bristol on Highway 12 South to C-379; a distance of about 13.7 miles. Travel on C-379 for 20 miles to Junction 65. Turn right on 65 to Sumatra. Continue past Sumatra for one mile to a sign on right: Sumatra Cemetery. Turn right to reach the large fenced cemetery. Most of the cemetery is located in Franklin County. Names & Dates: Parish Hill Lindsey Bass Branch Gregory Owens Hammond Others Sweetwater Cemetery (See St. Stephens Church & Cemetery) Talley Cemetery (Near Rock Bluff) Location: Leave Bristol on Highway 12 North to Junction C-270, about four miles. Turn left onto C-270, travel 10.5 miles to Junction S-271. Turn right, then locate the cemetery about 350 yards on S-271. Four concrete posts designate the cemetery area. Names & Dates: Joseph Brunson Talley 01-06-1823 1893 Born in Edgefield, SC and Family Telogia Baptist Church and Cemetery Location: From Bristol, travel on Highway 20 East to Hosford, about 11 miles. Turn right onto 65 South and continue to Telogia, about three miles. On the left side of 65 South, entering Telogia, is the Telogia Baptist Church and a very small cemetery. (16 graves.) Names & Dates: Holley (6 graves) Pullam (5 graves) Five infant graves Thomas Cemetery (Rock Bluff Area) Location: The following information is taken from a letter written in 1978 by Thomas c. White, Route 1, Box 81, Quincy Fl 32351: The cemetery is "located in a swamp area up near Rock Bluff about a half- miles back in the woods from the Galilee Church on the highway. I think the cemetery is about 50 feet square. Thomas Glenn's brother and wife are buried here. And, I believe Thomas Glenn's parents and grandparents are buried there (formerly Gadsden County, Territory of Florida)." Names & Dates: Markers legible March 1986 Wiley Hare Co. CSA Queen Ann Hare 01-22-1832 11-20-1911 w/o Owen S.Glenn Thomas Glenn Cemetery (See Thomas Cemetery) White Springs Cemetery (See Gregory Neil Gentry Cemetery) William Olin Shuler, Sr. Cemetery (Hosford/Lowry) Location: From Bristol, travel on Highway 20 East to Hosford, 11 miles. At Junction with 65 North, turn left and travel 4.1 miles to an unpaved road. Turn right onto unpaved road and continue to bear right to a large brick home. (Home of Mualay and Pat Shuler). The cemetery is located west of this house. It is a private cemetery for the family of William O. Shuler, Sr.
