BRINSON, Jr., M.D., JOHN BRADFORD. After a preparation of unusual thoroughness and with some unusual opportunities for experience Doctor BRINSON engaged in private practice at Monticello in 1914, and since then he has achieved the success represented by tireless devotion to duty, skill and high and generous ideals of personal responsibility. Doctor BRINSON was born in Madison, Florida, May 24, 1886, son of JOHN BRADFORD and SHELLY SHELDON (SMITH) BRINSON. His parents are both living at Madison. His father for fifteen years conducted a drug business there, and subsequently became a traveling salesman for a Jacksonville wholesale drug house and later represented a New York firm in Florida. He has been retired from business since January 1, 1922. He has served as mayor of Madison, takes an active part in the Masonic and Elk Lodges and is a member of the Presbyterian Church. Dr. JOHN BRADFORD BRINSON was reared in Madison, attended public schools there, and his early training in his father's drug store aroused in him the ambition for a medical career. He completed his literary education by two years in the University of Florida, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He took his first medical training in Tulane University in New Orleans, where he remained two years, and for one year was assistant in a private sanitarium for neurological cases at Baltimore. His last two years of student training were spent in the University of Atlanta, where he graduated M. D. June 2, 1914. He is a member of the Chi Zeta Chi medical fraternity. Doctor BRINSON opened his office and began practice at Monticello in August, 1914. While he has handled a general practice, his special training and proficiency is in pediatrics. He is secretary-treasurer of the Jefferson County Medical Society, is a member of the State, Southern and American Medical associations, and during the late war he was medical examiner for the Jefferson County Draft Board. Doctor BRINSON is an enthusiast on outdoor sports, particularly baseball. He is a deacon in the Presbyterian Church and a member of the Masonic Order. At Monticello, April 26, 1915, he married Miss MARTHA HAWKINS BAILEY, of a distinguished family of that city. Mrs. BRINSON is active in social, club and church circles. They have two children, CAROLYN BAILEY BRINSON and JOHN BRADFORD BRINSON III.
