Michael C. Holsworth, M.D., 69, went home to be with the Lord on November 29, 
2011. Born in Saginaw, Mich., September 7, 1942, he was the son of Ruth and 
Clarence E. Holsworth. Michael earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the 
University of Florida in 1964, and his Medical Doctor degree at the University 
of Miami School of Medicine, 1968. He moved to Holmes Beach in 1972 and 
practiced Family Medicine in Bradenton until his re-tirement in July, 2010. 
Michael was a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice and a Fellow of 
the American Academy of Family Physicians. He was elected the 1986 Doctor of the 
Year by his peers at Blake Medical Center. He was nomi-nated one of America's 
Top Family Doctors, 2004-2005, by the Con-sumers Research Council of America. 
The Sarasota Magazine, June 2004 and 2005 issues recognized him as one of the 
"top doctors on both the na-tional and regional lev-els…a physician most highly 
regarded by their peers."; and the Florida Medical Association recognized him as 
a Distinguished Physician, 2006, "A Physician Who Cares". Survivors include his 
mother, Ruth; wife, Beatrice; daughter Dr. Jennifer Leigh and her husband Lt. 
James Leigh and their precious daughter, Jayden Elizabeth. Michael loved the 
Lord and he loved life, his family, patients, friends and co-workers. He lived 
life in the fast lane – from jet boats to super-gas race-cars. A member of NHRA, 
he was a profes-sional super-gas drag racer. There are no services at this time. 
The family will have a celebration of his life at a later date. In lieu of 
flowers, memorial donations may be made to Northwest Baptist Church, P.O. Box
