The stones from this old cemetery are all leaning against one tree in the middle of a large oak stand. They were found at this exact spot, under these large oak trees, in 1987 by using an iron rod to locate them under the ground. At that time they were stood up against one tree where they remain today. It is likely the stones were not originally under these trees but were out in the area that was later farmed. The stones were probably thrown up under these trees to be out of the way of the plows. Researcher Rose Marie Barker Nations believes many others were buried in this cemetery. Also that many other stones originally existed, certainly a headstone for SCM whose foot stone was located. It is likely the original cemetery was on property owned by Norman C. Morrison, father of Alexander T. Morrison. When Norman Morrison died in 1882, his property listed in his estate included property directly south of where the stones were located. On Feb 22, 1996, Rose Marie Barker Nations, Jacquelyn Hestera, and Dixie Allen visited the cemetery, chalked the stones, and photographed them. The following is the information that appears on the stones. All headstones say "Sacred to the Memory of". Further information and photographs of stones may be obtained via email by the submitter.
