One Thousand Nine hundred and Nine, personally appeared before me, a Clerk Circuit Court in and for the County and State aforesaid Mrs. E. R. Brumby, a resident of Ocala, County of Marion, State of Florida, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain a pension under the provisions of Chapter 5885, Laws of Florida, approved June 7, 1909. That she is the widow of Alexander Brevard Brumby who was enlisted under the name of Alexander Brevard Brumby, on the 20th day of December, 1860, in Company B or White’s Battery, Waters Battery Artillery, Ferguson’s Cavalry Brigade, S. D. Lee’s Division Regiment of the State of South Carolina Polk’s Corp. Army of Tennessee and who was honorably discharged at Hospital West Point Ga., April, 1865, on account of wounds received in battle. (Here give complete statement of other service, if any.) That he also served as Sergeant Major Fourteenth Georgia Regiment under Col. A. V. Brumby for about two years. Was badly wounded at West Point, Ga., captured at this place 16th day of April 1865. Was wounded four times. That she was lawfully married to the said Alexander Brevard Brumby under the name of Ellen D. Robarts in Atlanta in the County of Fulton, State of Georgia, on the 25th day of April, 1866, and that she was not divorced from him and that she has not remarried since his death, which occurred on the 25th day of October, 1879, in the County of Clarke, State of Georgia. That she is a resident of Marion County, Florida, and has continuously resided in the State of Florida since the……day of January 1894. Page 003 That she does not own property, including real estate, personal property, mortgages or other collateral securities, stocks or bonds in this or any other State to exceed in value the sum of Five Thousand Dollars. B. Brumby, deceased, who departed this life on the 25th day of October, A. D. 1880, in the county of Clark, in the State of Georgia. I was married to him on the 25th day of April, A. D. 1866, in the county of Fulton, in the State of Georgia. I have not remarried since the death of my said husband A. B. Brumby. My husband, the said A. B. Brumby, enlisted and served in the (Military or Naval) Military service of the (What State or Confederate States) Confederate States during the war between the States of the United States, and he did not desert the Confederate State service. C. College was also a member of the same Company – that I saw him when he was wounded at Fort Izler West Point Georgia 16th of April 1865 – that was last time I have ever seen him. W. D. Hamilton Co. P. Hays, County Court Clerk and officer duly authorized under the Statutes of the State of Tennessee to administer oaths, Ephriam R. Brumby, a resident of the City of Chattanooga, County of Hamilton, State of Tennessee, who being duly sworn deposes and says, that he knew Alexander Brevard Brumby, and that the said Alexander Brevard Brumby enlisted during the first year of the Civil War, and that he was in the engagement at Fort Sumter, South Carolina, and that he afterward served as Sergeant Major of the Fourteenth (14th) Georgia Regiment under Col A B Brumby for about two years, and was afterwards in Walteses (South Carolina) Battery, under General Tyler for about two years: That the said Alexander was in the fight at West Point Georgia, and was badly wounded. That the said Alexander Brevard Brumby surrendered at West Point Georgia, about May First (1st) 1865. That the said Alexander Brevard Brumby married Ellen Robarts in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia in the year 1866, and the applicant for pension is this party, and Alexander Brevard Brumbys widow. That said Alexander Brevard Brumby died at Athens, Clarke County, Georgia, in the month of October, in the year 1879. Ephraim R. Brumby Sworn to and subscribed before me this 21 day of June 1907. W.
