Dear Sir. In reply to yours of July 23, will first thank you for notifying me in regards to my first husband H. M. Lanier in 1874 and 5 he was in the cattle business buying and selling to different parties which kept him away from home most all the time but he was making money and was willing to make the sacrafice. Burleson Page 023 3 shortly after that his Uncle died and now you have all that I know about it. When Mr. Burleson got his license to marry me he asked Col. Bullock about it and he said seven years absence was all the time allowed. Now I do not wish to do anything wrong in drawing a Pension but if you doubt my statement I can prove it all up in Hillsborough Co. where I was living when he left me thinking Page 024 #4 he would be home and I fully believe it was his intentions to come back to me. All this report is done through malice. My stepson tried to Administer and the court refused because it was only two days after his father’s death.
