D. One Thousand Nine Hundred and seventeen personally appeared before me, the County Judge in and for the county and State aforesaid, Laurie T. Izlar, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 73 years and 10 mos of age, having been born on the 18th day of September, 1843, in the County of Orangeburg, in the State of South Carolina. That he is a bona fide citizen of the county of Marion, State of Florida. That he has resided in the State of Florida continuously since the 2nd day of February, 1903. That he is the identical person who enlisted at Cole’s Island, S. C., under the name of Laurie T. Izlar, on the 16th Nov. 1861, in Company A, 1st S. C. Infantry (Hagood’s) and enlisted on the 11th day of April, 1862, in Company “G”, Regiment 25th S. C. of the State of South Carolina, at Cole’s Island, S. C. in the service of the (Here state whether the service claimed was in the Confederate States Army or in the service of a State.) Confederate States of America for three years, or the war, and who was honorably discharged at Point Lookout (Federal Prison), in the State of Maryland, on the fourteenth day of June, 1865, on account of surrender of the Confederate armies and end of the war, and the release of all prisoners then in Federal prisons. (Here state fully any other military service performed by applicant.) I served continuously from the time of my first enlistment in 1st Regt. S. C. Infantry to my re-enlistment in 25th S. C. Regt. as above, and then continuously until my capture on 20th Feby 1865. I served on coast of S. C., in N. C. and in the Army of Northern Virginia. Among battles I was in, are Sessionville, Fort Wagner, Cold Harbor, Fort Harrison, siege of Petersburg, Weldon Railroad and many others, not room to mention here, (Here give date and place of capture, imprisonment, exchange or parole.) and was captured at battle of New Town Creek in North Carolina on 20th Feby. 1865 and taken to prison at Point Lookout, Md., and kept there with many others, till 14th June 1865. That I served faithfully until honorably discharged from the service of the Confederate States in the year 1865, and did not desert the service of the Confederate States nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States until after the surrender of the Confederate Armies. (Here state whereabouts at close of Civil War.) That I was in Prison at Point Lookout, Maryland, at the sur- Page 003 render of the Confederate armies and close of the war, and was held there with several thousands of others, until 14th June 1865, and others were much later getting out, as it was a slow process. That I do not own property, including real estate, personal property, stocks, bonds, mortgages or other collateral securities of any kind in this or any other State, nor does my wife own with me jointly or separately, property to exceed in value the sum of five thousand dollars, exclusive of my or our home and one acre of land upon which said home stands. That the following is a true and correct statement of all the property owned by me or by my wife, jointly and separately in this or any other State: Real estate, located at Ocala Fla – (our home) $3,500.00 Cattle, horses and other live stock – None $……….. Izlar, who is an applicant for a pension under the Laws of Florida, and that from our own personal knowledge, and from the best information available, we believe that the applicant does not own property (including the property of his wife) to exceed in value the sum of $5,000, exclusive of his home and one acre of land upon which said home stands, and that the statements made by him relative to the value of his property are true and correct. E. Early of Orangeburg, County of Orangeburg, State of South Carolina, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical person who enlisted at Orangeburg in the State of S. C. on the 12th day of Page 005 Apr. 1862 in Company “G” 25th Regiment of the State of South Carolina, which organization was regularly mustered into the service of the Confederate States of America; that he knows of his own personal knowledge that Lauriestos T. Izlar enlisted in Company “G”, 25th Regiment of the State of So. Ca. at Coles Island, in the State of So. Ca. on the 12th day of April, 1862; that he served faithfully in the said organization until the 20 day of February, 1865, when he was captured at Town Creek N. C. honorably discharged on account of termination of war & surrender of Confederate Armies, at Point Lookout in the State of Maryland, and did not desert the Confederate States service nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States before the close of the war. (Here state whether the soldier was transferred to another organization, or not, and if captured or imprisoned, state when and where.) He was never transferred but was captured at Town Creek N.C. and taken to Point Lookout Md and held there ‘till June 20 – 1865 and paroled & discharged. I know personally of the above stated service, because I served with Lauriestos T. Izlar in Company G Regiment 25th of the State of S. C. Vols Infantry, and was honorably discharged at surrender, in the State of N. C., on the…….day of Apr., 1865, by reason of termination of war, and I did not desert the Confederate States service nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States before the close of the War. Way of Orangeburg, County of Orangeburg, State of South Carolina who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical person who enlisted at Orangeburg in the State of South Carolina on the 10th day of April 1862 in Company “F” 25th Regiment of the State of South Carolina, which organization was regularly mustered into the service of the Page 006 Confederate States of America; that he knows of his own personal knowledge that Laurie T. Izlar enlisted in Company “G” 25th Regiment of the State of South Carolina, at Coles Island, in the State of South Carolina, on the 11th day of April, 1862; that he served faithfully in the said organization until the 20th day of February, 1865; captured at Town’s Creek N.C. when he was honorably discharged on account of termination of war & surrender of Confederate Armies at Point Lookout, Md in the State of Maryland, and did not desert the Confederate States service nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States before the close of the War. He was not transferred but was captured at Towns Creek N.C. and taken to Point Lookout Md and held till 20th day of June 1865. I know personally of the above stated service, because I served with him in Company….. Regiment 25th of the State of South Carolina, and was honorably discharged at Point Lookout, in the State of Maryland, on the 20th day of June, 1865, by reason of termination of war, and I did not desert the Confederate States service nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States before the close of the war. Izlar for a pension under the Laws of Florida, was investigated by us; that we are satisfied that the applicant does not own property (including the property of his wife) to exceed the value of $5,000, exclusive of his home and one acre of land upon which said home stands; that he has been a bona fide citizen of the State of Florida for at least 8 years just preceding the date of this application, and that the representation made in the petition and affidavits are true, and that a pension should be granted to the applicant. That the marriage ceremony was performed by one Lucius R. Bellinger, a minister of the Gospel, long since deceased, and at a time when no marriage license was required in the State of South Carolina; since which time she has lived continuously with her said husband as his wife up to the time of his death: That she is a resident of Marion County, Florida, and has continuously resided in the State of Florida since the 15th day of February, 1903, or thereabouts. Where the applicant for pension has remarried since the death of the soldier husband, upon whose service she is applying for pension, she must establish the fact that she has again become a widow in the same manner as prescribed in above paragraph, or if divorced, she should forward certified copy of decree granting a divorce annulling such marriage. Soldiers and Widows of Soldiers who were mustered into regular service of the Confederate States Army and members of the State Troops and Home Guards of Florida, upon proper proof, are entitled to a pension under Act of June, 1917.
