Reference: Wife’s Name: Application County & Year: Marion Co 1884 Page 001 A13007 Page 002 To the Honorable Board of Commissioners of Pensions: Gentlemen: The undersigned respectfully represents, and swears, that he was enlisted and served during the late war in Captain David Lang’s Company, Eighth Regiment, from the State of Florida; that he was wounded at Sharpsburgh, Maryland while in the discharge of his duties; that he is, by reason of said wounds, unable to labor and support himself; that he is not a pensioner of any other State, or of the United States; that he [owns no property except that returned for taxation in his own name, in] has resided in this State twenty eight years next preceding this date and is 56 years of age, counties, and that the pension authorized by the act of the Legislature, approved February 16th, 1885, is necessary for his support and maintenance. Filed In Adjutant-Generals Office Oct. 11th, 1887 Page 004 State of Florida Marion County We, the Board of County Commissioners of said county, certify that Elias W. Jordan was a regularly enlisted Soldier in Captain David Lang’s Company, of the 8th Florida Regiment of Florida Volunteers, and served as such during the late war; that he is unable to labor and support himself by reason of wounds received in the line of duty while so serving; that he is now a citizen of this county and State; that he is not receiving a pension from any other State or from the United States, and that the [pension allowed by the Act approved February 16th, 1885, “to provide an annuity for Disabled Soldiers and Sailors of the State of Florida,” is necessary for his maintenance and support] has resided in this State 28 years next preceding this date.
