Nolan, who be- ing by me duly sworn, declares he is the identical person who enlisted on or about the "X" day of March 1861 in Captain "K" Throckmorton's (James W.) Company, County of Collin, in the State of Texas and that while in actual service and in Company "K", 6th Texas Cav Regiment of the State of Texas (Note from transcriber: R.A. Nolan joined Company K in March (Texas Rangers) and then 6th Texas Cav on September 12, 1861) and that while in actual service in said Company "K", 6th Texas Cav Regiment of the State of Texas,and in the line of duty as such soldier, at Canton State of Mississippi on or about the "X" (15th) day of May, 1865 was honorably discharged at the expiration of my service and the end of the War. (Here state fully and clearly all the facts, showing the injury, its character, and especially the extent of the injury and disability resulting therefrom. " I had my right arm broken at the Battle of Corinth, and Contracted Rheumatism,caused by exposure while in the service ~in~ line of duty, from all of which I am completely crippled and in feeble physical condition. I am now also suffering growth from a cancer in my left temple. I am taking treatment at Ocala hospital for it. I was 56 years old last Apri. (Actually 61) And that as a direct result of said injuries, thus received in the line of duty during the war, I am now unable to gain a livelihood by manual labor; that I have continuously since January 1, 1885, been a citizen of Florida; that neither I, nor my wife, nor both combined, own real and personal property to the value of $800 in this or any other State, and have not purposely disposed of our property for the purpose of availing ourselfs of the provisions of the pension laws of Florida; that I am not otherwise enabled, or in a position to earn, and have no income from from any source sufficient for a livelihood by manual labor, and that I never deserted the Confederate service, and that I receive a pension from no other source. Nolan, (the claimant) is a member of Camp No. 56 and in good standing. Sworn and suscribed before me this August 21, 1861, 1902, John E. Nolan and his wife, directly or indirectly, in this or any other State, and that the actual combined value thereof does not exceed $800; that they have not disposed of any property for the purpose of availing themselves of the provisions of the pension laws of Florida,and that he is not physically or otherwise able, or in a position to a livelihood, by manuel labor. Nolan had been well todo until the big freeze that affect orange groves in Florida during the winterss from 1894 to 1898. After this time he lost all he had. His wife was living next to her son in Tampa, Fla.) PHYSICIANS’ AFFIDAVIT. STATE OF FLORIDA MARION COUNTY We, the undersigned residents of the State and county aforesaid, do solomnly swear that we have carefully exaimined Robert A. Nolan, who is personally known to us to be the person above applying for a pension under the laws of Florida, and find him suffering from Rheumatism, caused by a wound in the right arm at Corinth, Miss in August 1863, together with exposure incident to serving in the Army. Since then a cancer has developed in the left side of the head and face, both rendering him totally unable to do any physical labor of any kind. Signed: Jonall Thompson, M. D.
