Marion County Tobacco ─ This office was presented with some samples of cigars
by W. E. Thomas that were as fine as any we have ever smoked. They were made
entirely of Florida tobacco, grown by Adam Eichelberger on his place near this city.
The cigars were as fine flavored as the genuine Havana grown leaf. We see no reason
why, with the proper attention and cultivation, we can not grow just as good tobacco
in Marion county as our Cuban neighbors. We have the factories and will soon have
others. Now let us turn our attention to the soil and grow the larger portion of our
tobacco right here.
