Benigno, 77, of Fort Pierce died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at his home. A native of Montreal, he lived in Fort Pierce for 15 years. He moved here from Brooklyn, N.Y. Before retirement, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Brooklyn, for 27 years. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Sons of Italy Lodge 2594, Port St. Lucie; the Italian American Club, Port St. Lucie; and Elks Lodge 2658, Port St. Lucie. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Eda Benigno of Fort Pierce ; a daughter, Michele Benigno of Fort Pierce; a son, Richard Benigno and wife Paula of Staten Island, N.Y.; three brothers, Santo Benigno of Spring Hill, Fla. , Jimmy Benigno of Canton, Ga., and Sal Benigno of Miami; a sister, Tina Tucci of Valley Stream, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Young & Prill Funeral Home, Port St. Lucie. A Mass of Christian Burial and burial will be in Staten Island, N.Y.
