The land is part of the original tract of land on which the family maintained a plantation in the 1700's. The area is overgrown with underbrush and there are markers with numbers rather than names. The John Vaughan name appears as a Private in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. He also participated in the Indian Wars in the early part of the 19th century. W. E. SCOTT, JR., b. Dec 15, 1886 d. Oct 9, 1888 There are 12 one foot high marble markers scattered around numbering 1-12. Rhoda Effingham Miller Vaughan-dau of Pharaba Miller-wife of John D. Vaughan is also reported to be buried with her husband. There are no markings for her. Sacred to the Memory of JOHN DANIEL VAUGHAN Born in Boston March 13th 1763 Died in Nassau Co. Florida April 16th 1860 Aged 97 years "He bled for Liberty and bequeathed as a legacy to his posterity resistance to tyranny and oppression. Peace to the ashes of the truly great.
