D. One Thousand Nine Hundred and Eighteen, personally appeared before me, a Clerk of Circuit Court, in and for the County and State aforesaid JANE A ALLEN, a resident of Fernandina, County of Nassau, State of Florida, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain a pension under the provisions of Chapter 7259, Laws of Florida, approved June 7, 1917. That she is the lawful widow of WILLIAM F ALLEN, who enlisted under the name of WILLIAM F ALLEN, on the (blank) day of (blank), 186_m in Company (blank) (For Enlistment and Discharge, see husbands War Record on file with Board of Pensions.) That she was lawfully married to the siad WILLIAM F ALLEN, under the name of JANE A NETTLES, in the County of Camden, State of Georgia, on the 18th day of March, 1865 and that she was not divorced from him before nor has she remarried since his death, which occurred on the 29th day of September, 1918, in the County of Nassau, State of Florida, except as hereinafter stated. That she is a resident of Nassau County, Florida, and has continuously resided in the State of Florida since the 18th day of April, A. D. 1905. That she was heretofore granted a pension from the State of Florida under Certificate No. (blank). That she is not a pensioner of any other state. (Seal) REPORT OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS We, the undersigned, County Commissioners in and for the County of Nassau, Florida, do hereby report that at a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners held this day, the foregoing application of JANE A ALLEN, for a pension under the Laws of Florida, was investigated by us; that we are satisfied that the applicant has been a bona fide citizen of the State of Floirda for eight years just preceding the date of this application, and that the representation made in the petition and affidavits are true, and that a pension should be granted the applicant. Burgess, Clerk Circuit Court FORM D AFFIDAVIT TO BE MADE BY A COMMISSIONED OFFICER State of Florida, County of Dade Before me a Notary Public in and for the County and State aforesaid, personally came Felder Lang who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he was a commisioned officer with the rank of 2nd Lt in Company "D" Regiment of the State of Georgia during the War between the States of the United States; that he was enlisted at Jeffersonton in the State of Georgia on the 28th day of January 1862, and that he was commisssioned in the above company and regiment on the 4th day of May 1863, and that he was HONORABLY DISCHARGED AT Oak Hill Georgia on the (blank) day of April 1865, by reason of Close of the War. That he personally knew WILLIAM FOSTER ALLEN, who ia an applicant for a pension under the laws of Florida; that he knows that the said applicant enlisted in Company "D", regiment of the State of Georgia 4th Reg., Ga Cavalry; that he served faithfully until HONORABLY DISXHARGED on the (blank) day of April 1865, on account of Close of War, at Number 7 on the Albany and Gulf R. R., State of Georgia, and that the said applicant did not desert the service of the Confederate States NOR DID HE TAKE THE OATH OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE UNTIED STATES BEFORE THE CLOSE OF THE WAR. Russell, Ordinary, in and for the State and County aforesaid, personally came James ? Wilson of Company "D", 4th Georgia Cavalry, County of Camden, State of Georgia, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical person who enlisted at Camp B__field in the State of Georgia on the (blank) day of December 1862 in Company D 4 Reg of Cavalry, Regiment of the State of Georgia, which organization was regularly mustered into the service of the Confederate States of America; that he knows of his own personal knowledge that WILLIAM FOSTER ALLEN enlisted in Company D 4th Cavalry Regiment of the State of Georgia at # 7 A and G RR in the State of Georgia on the day of (blank) 1861; that he served faithfully in the said organization until the 7 day of May 1865; when he was HONORABLY DISHCARGED on account of The Surrender at #7 A and G RR in the State of Georgia, and did not desert the Confederate States service nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States before the close of the War. I know personally of the above stated service, because I served with him in Company D, Regiment 4th Cavalry of the State of Georgia, and was HONORABLY DISHARGED at #7 A and G RR, in the State of Georgia, on the 7 day of May 1865, by reason of The Close of The War and I did not desert the Confederate States service nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States before the close of the War. Russell, Ordinary, in and for the State and County aforesaid, personally came Lewis M Vocelle, of St. Mary's Ga, County of Camden, State of Georgia, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical person who enlisted at Camp ?, in Camden County, in the State of Georgia, on the (blank) day of 1862, in Company D, 4th Reg of Cavalry Regiment of the State of Georgia, which organization was regularly mustered in to the service of the Confederate States of America; that he knows of his own personal knowledge that FOSTER ALLEN enlisted in Company D 4th Cav Regiment of the State of Georgia on the (blank) day of (blank), 1861; that he served faithfully in the said orgaization until the 7 day of May, 1865, when he was HONORABLY DISCHARGED on account of the Surrender, at #7 A and G RR in the State of Georgia, and did not desert the Confederate States service nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States before the close of the War. I know personally of the above stated service, because I served with him in Company D, 4th regiment Cavalry of the State of Georgia, and was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at Oak Hill Church, in the State of Georgia, on the (blank) day of "at the Surrender" 1865, by reason of The Close of The War, and I did not desert the Confederate States service nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States before the close of the War. State of Florida, County of Nassau: Before the subscriber persoanlly appeared JANE A ALLEN, who being by me first duly sworn deposes and says that she was lawfully married to WILLIAM F ALLEN in Camden County, Georgia, in the year of 1865, directly after the close of the Civil War in the United States; that after said marriage she lived with WILLIAM F ALLEN continuously until his death in the County of Nassau, Florida, on the September 29, 1918; that all the witnesses to the said marriage have died; and that she has applied to the County officials of Camden County, Georgia, for a certificate showing her said marriage to the said WILLIAM F ALLEN and was informed by said county officials that no written record of said marriage could be found in said Camden County, Georgia; deponent further swears that she believes the record of her said marriage to said WILLIAM F ALLEN in the county of Camden, Georgia, has been lost or destroyed. ALLEN began in about the year of 1899; that he knows of his own personal knowledge that the said JANE A ALLEN and the said WILLIAM F ALLEN were legally married in Camden County, State of Georgia, immediately at the close of the civil war between the states; and that she is the widow of WILLIAM F. JANE A ALLEN, widow of WILLIAM F. ALLEN, deceased; that he knew WILLIAM F. ALLEN, late of Nassau County, Florida, during his life time; that his personal acquaintance with the said MRS. JANE A ALLEN and her late husband WILLIAM F. ALLEN began in about the year of 1895; that he knows of his own personal knowledge that the said JANE A ALLEN and the said WILLIAM F. ALLEN lived together as man and wife for 24 years; that he believes the said JANE A ALLEN and the said WILLIAM F. ALLEN were legally married in Camden County, State of Georgia, after the close of the civil war between the states; and that she is the widow of WILLIAM F. ALLEN, deceased.
