D. One Thousand Nine Hundred and twenty seven, personally appeared before me a notary public in and for the County and State aforesaid Mary F. Hart a resident of Baker County of Okaloosa State of Florida, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain a pension under the provisions of the General Pension Laws of Florida. That she is the lawful widow of James F. Hart who enlisted under the name of James F. Hart on the 17 day of April, 1861, in Company F 1st Fla. Regiment of the State of Fla., Captain of said Co. F and who was honorably discharged at Atlanta, Ga. May 9th, 1865, on account of services being no longer required. That she was lawfully married to the said James F. Hart under the name of Mary F. Thompson in the County of Covington State of Ala. on the 11 day of March, 1878, and that she was not divorced from him before nor has she remarried since his death, which occurred on the 30 day of March, 1916, in the County of Covington, State of Ala. except as hereinafter stated. That she is a resident of Okaloosa County, Florida, and has continuously resided in the State of Florida since the 5th day of March 1917. That she was heretofore granted a pension from the State of Florida under Certificate No. none. That she is not a pensioner of any other State. Baggett, Jr. Notary Public ******************************************************************************* Form E Affidavit to be Made by Comrade State of Florida} County of Okaloosa} Before me, Notary Public in and for the State and County aforesaid, personally came Mathew Guest, of Holt, County of Okaloosa, State of Fla. who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical person who enlisted at Milton in the State of Fla. on the 17 day of April 1861, in Company F 1st Fla. Regiment of the State of Fla., which organization was regularly mustered into the service of the Confederate States of America; that he knows of his own personal knowledge that James F. Hart enlisted in Company F 1st Fla. Regiment of the State of Fla., at Milton, in the State of Fla. on the 17 day of April, 1861; that he served faithfully in the said organization until the 9 day of May 1865, when he was HONORABLE DISCHARGED on account of services no longer required, at Atlanta in the State of Ga., and did not desert the Confederate States service nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States before the close of the war. (Here state whether the soldier was transferred to another organization, or not and if captured or imprisoned, state when and where.) That said Hart was the Captain of said Co. F 1st Fla. Reg. to which he belonged. No transfer, capture, was mustered in at Pensacola, Fla. I know personally of the above stated service, because I served with him as a private in Company F Regiment 1st of the State of Fla., and was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at Atlanta, in the State of Ga., on the 9th day of May, 1864, by reason of services being no longer required and I did not desert the Confederate States service nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States before the close of the War. W. Adkison, of Laurel Hill County of Okaloosa, State of Fla. who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical person who enlisted at Andalusia, Ala., in the State of Ala. on the 2 day of April, 1862, in Company I 40th Ala., Regiment of the State of Ala., which organization was regularly mustered into the service of the Confederate States of America; that he knows of his own personal knowledge that James F. Hart enlisted in Company F 1st Fla. Regiment of the State of Fla., at Milton, in the State of Fla. on the 17 day of April, 1861; that he served faithfully in the said organization until the 9 day of May, 1865, when he was HONORABLY DISCHARGED on account of services no longer required, at Atlanta in the State of Ga., and did not desert the Confederate States service nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States before the close of the War. My Co. was with Mr. Hart's Co. a good deal of the time, and he was in the war a year before I was. I know personally of the above stated service, because I served with and near James F. Hart in Company I Regiment 40 Reg. of the State of Ala., and was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at Big Black, in the State of Miss., on the 7 day of May, 1865, by reason of services no longer required and I did not desert the Confederate States service nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States before the close of the War. Hart for a pension under the Laws of Florida, was investigated by us; that we are satisfied that the applicant has been a bona fide citizen of the State of Florida for eight years just preceding the date of this application, and that the representations made in the petition and affidavits are true, and that a pension should be granted the applicant. Hart, (New) Co. F, 1st. Florida Inf., C. S. A., enlisted March 21, 1862, at Milton. Appointed 2nd. Lieutenant March 21, 1862. Muster roll Jan. & Feb. 1864, (the latest on file) shows him present, a 2nd. Lieutenant. Personal papers on file show that under date of Jan. 17, 1865, he tendered his resignation as 2nd. Lieut., which was disapproved, no reason for resignation being assigned. No later record found.
