Mrs. Eliza Jones, Route No. 1, Baker, Florida. Dear Madam: Your application for pension as being the widow of Isom Jones, pensioner of this State under claim #8423, has been received and replying will say that in as much as the records of the case show that you were married to the soldier on the 10th day of March, 1923, you are not lawfully entitled to pension as his widow. Section 1445, Revised General Statutes of the State of Florida provides that "No pension will be allowed to any widow whose marriage was subsequent to June 1st, 1917", therefore you will see that under the Statutes you have no claim on the State for a pension. I am very sorry that such is the case and you cannot receive pension under the Law as it now stands. Very respectfully, Comptroller. ****************************************************************************** Note: 22947-R Mrs. Eliza Jones, file of her husband # 8423, Isom Jones, returned to its original folder. Her pension denied due to date of marriage.
