D. One Thousand Nine Hundred and 16 personally appeared before me, a notary public in and for the county and State aforesaid, ____ who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 87 ages of age, having been born on the 30 day of Jan., 1829, in the county ____, in the State of Ala. That he is a bona fide citizen of the county of Okaloosa, State of Florida. That he has resided in the State of Florida continuously since the 15 day of Jan, 1896. That he is the identical person who enlisted at Montgomery, Ala., under the name of Moses Jackson McClenny, on the 1 day of March 1861, in Company H, Regiment 34th Ala. Infantry of the State of Ala. in the service of the Confederate States Army and who was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at Greensboro, in the State of N. C., on the 1 day of May, 1865, on account of war ended. That I served faithfully until HONORABLY DISCHARGED from the service of the confederate States Army, in the year 1865, and did not desert the service of the ____ nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States until after the surrender of the Confederate Armies. (Here state whereabouts at close of Civil War.) That I was Greensboro, N. C. That I do not own property, including real estate, personal property, stocks, bonds, mortgages or other collateral securities of any kind in this or any other State, nor does my wife own with me jointly or separately, property to exceed in value the sum of five thousand dollars. That the following is a true and correct statement of all the property owned by me or by my wife, jointly and separately in this or any other State: Real estate, located at none Cattle, horses and other live stock none Personal Property none Stocks none Bonds none Mortgages, notes and other securities none That I have heretofore applied for a pension from the State of Florida and refer to Claim No. ____ for the proof contained therein. State of Florida,} County of Okaloosa} Before me personally came Dr. Lucifer and Dr. McGiff, who being duly sworn each for himself, deposes and says, that he is a physician; that he is a resident of the State and County aforesaid; that her personally knows Moses Jackson McClenny the name in the foregoing application for a pension. The deponents further say that they have carefully examined the said applicant's physical condition and find: (Here state nature, character and extent of wounds, disease or disability. Please avoid technical terms.) physically disabled to perform manual labor by reason of old age. This deponent further says that the said Moses Jackson McClenny is permanently ____ disabled by reason of such disability from earning a livelihood for himself by manual labor. Ross J. Lucifer, M. D. Dear Sir: Moses Jackson McClenny who is an applicant for a pension under the laws of Florida, claims to have been a member of Company H 34th Ala. Knott Comptroller ******************************************************************************* Letter War Department, The Adjutant General's Office, Washington Jan 20, 1916 Respectfully returned to the Comptroller, State of Florida, Tallahassee. The Confederate records show that M. J. McClenny (name not found as Moses Jackson McClenny), private, enlisted in Co. H, 34th Alabama Infantry, C. S. A., and was mustered into service with the company April 16, 1862. His name appears, without remark as to presence or absence, on a special muster roll dated April 5, 1864. Said records further show that, by consolidation in 1865, the organization mentioned became a part of the 24th Alabama Infantry, Consolidated, C. S. A., of which there are no rolls on file. The Union prisoner of war records show that Moses J. McClenny, private, Co. K, 24th Alabama Infantry, C. S. A., was paroled at Greensboro, N. C., May 1, 1865, in accordance with the terms of the military convention of April 26, 1865.
