A. Parker who being by me duly sworn, declares he is the identical person who enlisted on or about the 4th day of March, 1861, in Captain G. N. Sow?'s Company, "I" counties of Walton, Covington and Conesuh, in the State of Florida and Alabama and that while in actual service in said company "I", 29th Alabama Regiment, of the State of Alabama and in line of duty as such soldier, at Brutonville, State of North Carolina on or about the last day of March, 1865, and was honorably discharged at the expiration of my service on the ____ day of May 1865 in Montgomery county, State Alabama, I received gunshot wounds in back of neck, in left hand and left arm, besides was in 12 other engagements and suffered several other wounds more or less slight and on account of said wounds ? received together with disease incident to old age, being over the age of 65 years, I am now unable to gain a livelihood by manual labor and that as the direct result of said injuries, thus received in line of duty during the war and on account of age. I am now unable to gain a livelihood by manual labor; that I have continuously since January 1st, 1885, been a citizen of Florida; that neither I, nor my wife, nor both combined, own real and personal property to the value of $800 in this or any other State, and have not purposely disposed of our property for the purpose of availing ourselves of the provisions of the pension laws of Florida; that I am not otherwise enabled, or in a position to earn, and have no income from any source sufficient for a livelihood by manual labor, and that I never deserted the Confederate service, and that I receive a pension from no other source. McLean Clerk Circuit Court Walton County ******************************************************************************* I do solemnly swear that I was born on the 19th day of October, 1836 in Coffee county, State of Alabama and that I am now past the age of sixty-five (65) years; that I was a bona-fide citizen of this State on January A. D. 1885, and have continuously resided in this State since that date; that I do not own property, real or person, or real and personal, to the value of eight hundred dollars ($800), and that I am by reason of age incapable of providing a living by manual labor for myself. A. Parker, who is personally known to us to be the person above applying for a pension under the laws of Florida, and find that he has evidence of wounds in back of neck and in left arm and hand, that he is apparently a man of advanced years, evidently over the age of 65 years and that from the result of such wounds in neck, arm and hand together with his old age he is unable to gain a livelihood by manual labor. D. One Thousand Nine Hundred and nine personally appeared before me, a notary public in and for the county and State aforesaid, Irvin A. Parker who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 72 years of age, having been born on the 19 day of October, 1836, in the county of Coffee, in the State of Alabama. That he is a bona fide citizen of the county of Walton, State of Florida. That he has resided in the State of Florida continuously since the ____ day of sometime in, 1857. That he is the identical person who enlisted near Florala in Covington Co., Ala. under the name of Irvin A. Parker, on the 4 day of March 1861, in Company I, Regiment 29th Ala. of the State of Alabama & Florida in the service of the Confederate States Army and who was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at Greensbourough, N. C., in the State of North Carolina on or about the 26 day of April, 1865, on account of close of war. (Here state fully any other military service performed by the applicant.) Never performed any other service than in Confederate States Army. (Here give date and place of capture, imprisonment, exchange or parole.) Surrendered at Greenbourough, N. C. about the 26 day of April 1865 with Johnson's Army and I was exchanged right there. That I served faithfully until HONORABLY DISCHARGED from the service of the Confederate States Army in the year 1865, and did not desert the service of the Confederate States nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States until after the surrender of the Confederate Armies. (Here state whereabouts at close of Civil War.) That I was Greenbourough, N. C. at close of war. That I do not own property, including real estate, personal property, stocks, bonds, mortgages or other collateral securities of any kind in this or any other State, nor does my wife own with me jointly or separately, property to exceed in value the sum of five thousand dollars. (Here state any disabilities, physical or mental.) I have a urinary disease or kidney trouble from which I suffer a great deal. (Here state any wound received, or loss of limbs and eyesight.) Received a gunshot wound in left hand two fingers amputated and thumb rendered useless also unable to grip anything in the hand which diseases and wound render me unable to earn a livelihood by manual labor. Morris, who being duly sworn, deposes and says, that he is a physician; that he is a resident of the State and County aforesaid; that he personally knows Irvin A. Parker the applicant named in the foregoing application for a pension. This deponent further says that he has carefully examined the said applicant's physical condition and finds: (Here state nature, character and extent of wounds, disease or disability. Please avoid technical terms.) The applicant suffering by reason of age and general disability. Also troubled with enlargement of prostate gland, left hand disabled as a result of gunshot wound. This deponent further says that the said Irvin A. Parker is partially disabled by reason of such disease and wound from earning a livelihood for himself by manual labor. G. P. Parker for a pension under the Laws of Florida, was investigated by us; that we are satisfied that the applicant does not own property (including the property of his wife) to exceed the value of $5,000, and that the representations made in the petition and affidavits are true, and that a pension should be granted to the applicant.
