        DAVIS, M. D., JAMES ABRAM, has been engaged in the practice of 
medicine and surgery at Winter Garden for the past 15 years, is one of the men 
of special talent in his profession and one of the very liberal and public 
spirited citizens of the community.
	Dr. Davis was born in Bostick in Florence County, South Carolina, 
December 27, 1876, son of Dr. WILLIAM M. and MARY BROCKINGTON (BLAINE) DAVIS, 
also natives of South Carolina.  His father was an old-school physician who 
practiced medicine in South Carolina for over a half-century.  He served as a 
surgeon in the Confederate Army.  He was for two terms a member of the South 
Carolina Legislature.  He enjoyed a long life of 80 years, and his wife died 
at the age of fifty.  All of their nine children were born and reared at 
Bostick, South Carolina.
	JAMES ABRAM DAVIS attended common schools in high school, acquired 
literary training in Hartsville College, and after a few years engaged in 
other activities determined to follow the example of his father and entered 
the medical department of Emory University of Atlanta, Georgia, where he was 
graduated M. D. in 1906.  Soon after graduating he came to Florida, and has 
since continuously engaged in practice at Winter Garden.  He is a member of 
the Orange County, the State and American Medical associations, is a Master 
Mason and a member of the Baptist Church.  In 1907 he married ANGIE MARIE 
PHILLIPS, of Orlando.  They have one son, ROBERT EVERETT.
