Situated on property formerly owned by pioneer Isaac Powell. Though no Powell tombstones remain today, his descendants are supposed to have been the first burials here. There are several unmarked graves, including one that is sunken-in with a CSA marker near where the headstone should be. The oldest tombstone in this cemetery is dated 1877, about the time the nearby railroad track was laid. No burials have been made here since 1945, and frankly there isn't room since the city has sprung up around it. Note that some of the people buried here fell victims to the Influenza Epidemic of 1918-1919. Also, Theresa Mann Elliott has a complete pictorial census of this cemetery in-case anyone is interested in obtaining some pictures. Please contact her directly at solarize@mindspring.com.
