So, he left her in Georgia and came to Florida. Note, he married secondly, on 01-07-1874, to Elizabeth Powell. 11-23-1874 Charlotte & Thaddeus C. Gruber They came to Florida from Iowa. He left her to become a traveling physician, but never returned. 02-19-1878 Carrie & W.B. Randolph They were married in Orange County 01-07-1875. She had a prolonged conflict with her mother-in-law, but he refused to intervene. In frustration, she bit him. He then took her to the home of her father (Mr. Eppes) and left her there. 12-20-1878 William J. & Alice Hill They were married in England in 1867. He left her there to come to America, and subsequently discovered that she had remarried in 1876 to a Mr. Samuel Ellsen, claiming to be a widow. She and Mr. Ellsen had a son in 1877. 11-22-1879 Mary & James Blitch They were married in Orange County 02-17-1874. She was a daughter of wealthy cattleman Jacob Summerlin. Mr. Blitch accused her of adultery, but the court granted their divorce on grounds of the husband's extreme cruelty. No details given. 09-27-1880 Thomas B. & Martha Yates They were married in Orange County 10-25-1879. Her maiden name was Fountain. He claimed that she was a prostitute, and supposedly caught her with a customer by the name of Richard Brantley. Mr. Brantley denied this assertion, but Mr. Harvey J. Middlebrooks testifed that he had frequently seen Mrs. Yates working at a house of ill repute. 01-14-1881 S.P. & Katie Hatch She couldn't stand frontier life, and returned to her home state of Maine. 06-06-1881 Mary & Jerry Burn He beat her and failed to provide support for their children. Most heinous, he refused to summon a doctor which resulted in the death of one of the children. 06-21-1881 E.E. & Anne Belle Morrison They were married in Orange County 08-07-1879. Her maiden name was Laws. She abandoned him and their only child. He was granted sole custody. 10-03-1881 Martha & Henderson Washington He had syphillis. 12-17-1881 Mary L. & George Amos They were married in Orange County 11-19-1878. Her maiden name was Hart. He was an alcoholic and beat her when drunk, resulting in at least two miscarriages. 07-02-1883 Samuel H. & Elizabeth Luckey They were married in Orange County 12-11-1872. Her maiden name was Summerall. They operated the Luckey Hotel. She had an extramarital affair with the hotel's bartender Thomas Palmer, and returned to her native Georgia. Mr. Luckey was granted sole custody of their five children. He subsequently remarried, 12-21-1886, to Lydia E. Vredenburg. 10-12-1883 Needham & Mary Stokes They were married in Orange County 09-15-1881. Her maiden name was Fewax. He accused her of adultery, and produced a witness by the name of Mr. John Owens. Mr. Owens admitted that he and several other men had extramarital affairs with Mrs. Stokes. Mr. Stokes subsequently remarried 12-16-1885 to Josephine Jernigan. 11-23-1885 Emma & William Rudisil They were married in Orange County 10-24-1882. Divorce granted due to his impotence.
