(Pension Papers of Elijah A. Tucker.); died 22 Nov 1840 "I Alexander or Elijah Alexander Tucker knows nothing of Edward Alexander Tucker. John Edward Tucker was my elder brother, was a volunteer and Capt. of the volunteers in the Florida Indian war who has been dead many years. I know nothing of his bounty land claim. I was in a militia Company called out by the Governor of the territory of Florida for home protection. All who were able to bear arms were enlisted. I do not know how my name was on that roll. The claim that I set up is Capt. Matthew E. Hindley's Fla. Vols in 1839 & 1840. There were three Tuckers in this Company, Jonathan Tucker 2nd Lt., John Tucker Private, and Alexander or Elijah Alexander Tucker, this claimant. I have done all that I can to make my identity plain. The militia Company refered to above was commanded by Matthew E. Hindley and was in service prior to 1839. The service was recognized and paid by the United States. All of this from memory." The document bears the "X" mark of Elijah A. Tucker and is witnessed by J. M. Strickland and John M. Tucker. At this time Elijah A. was 68 years old and a citizen of Pasco County Florida.
