BOYNTON, LEONARD O. is one of several prominent young professional men of Bartow who gave active service with the army or navy during the World war. Since leaving the navy Mr. BOYNTON has qualified for the law and is now engaged in general practice. He was born at Princeton, Caldwell County, Kentucky, May 12, 1895, son of J. J. and CARRIE L. (McGOWEN) BOYNTON. His father was born in Georgia, but spent his early life in Texas, while the mother is a native of Kentucky and represents an old family of that state. Sixth in a family of eight children, LENNARD O. BOYNTON was ten years old when his parents came to Florida, locating at Bartow. His father had registered in the state before and had acquired some interests in Polk County. On coming to Bartow LENNARD O. BOYNTON entered the third grade of the public schools, graduated from high school, completed the work of Summerlin Institute in 1915, and in 1916 entered the University of Florida to pursue his law course. His studies there were interrupted in 1917 when he enlisted in the navy, and was assigned to duty on the battleship Minnesota. Mr. BOYNTON was in the navy twenty-seven months, most of the time as radio electrician. He made several trips across the ocean. After his honorable discharge he resumed his studies in the University of Florida, graduated LL. B. in June, 1920, and since then has been practicing law at Bartow, and also looks after some interests as a citrus grower in Polk County. Mr. BOYNTON is a member of the Masonic Order. In 1920 he married Miss MEROBA HOOKER, daughter of J. N. HOOKER, of Bartow. They have one son, LENNARD O. Jr.
