His longest service in business affairs has been as manager of the Crystal Ice Company. Mr. CLARK was born at Live Oak, Florida, March 15, 1885, son of W. W. and SUDIE B. (HAMBY) CLARK, the former a native of Hendersonville, Kentucky, and the latter of North Carolina. JOHN D. CLARK was reared and educated at Bartow, and after leaving public school his first duties were as station agent of the Southern Railway. He did that work at Bartow for three years, and since then for a period of sixteen years has been manager of the Crystal Ice Company, and has been largely responsible for the splendid business and service developed by that organization. He has worked with both civic and business organizations for the common welfare, has served as chairman of the public utility committee, as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, is an Elk and a Presbyterian. On April 30, 1906, Mr. CLARK married Miss LAURA BELLE MANGE, of Fort Myers, Florida. They have three children, JOHN D., Jr., W. W. and RICHARD. Mrs. CLARK is active socially, and has been an officer of the Bartow Women’s Club.
