Meade, County of Polk, State of Florida, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain a pension under the provisions of the General Pension Laws of Florida. That she is the lawful widow of Simon J. Stallings who enlisted under the name of Simon J. Stallings, on the.. day of August, 1861, in Company K – 3rd Fla. Infantry of the State of ………….. and who was honorably discharged at (unknown) in April, 1865, on account of (unknown) (here give complete statement of other service, if any.) Stallings under the name of Susan Alice Driggers in the County of Polk, State of Florida, on the 2nd day of April, 1876, and that she was not divorced from him before nor has she remarried since his death, which occurred on the 11th day of July, 1880, in the County of Polk, State of Florida, except as herein after stated. That Susan Alice Stallings married Eugene Mayhon and at the death of Eugene Mayhon she married Edward Yates – Mayhon died in Dec. 1921 and Yates dies on June 20, 1931. Stallings, 1st Sergeant, Company K, 3rd Regiment, Florida Infantry, Confederate States Army, was enrolled May 23, 1861, at Lake City, age 22 years. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant March 27, 1862, and was promoted to Captain February 13, 1863. Muster roll for January and February, 1864, last roll on file, shows him absent, “Detached by order of General Johnson February 1, 1864.” Union Prisoner of War records show that he was captured December 7, 1864, at Stone River, arrived at Military Prison, Louisville, Kentucky, January 5, 1865, received at Fort Delaware, Delaware, January 16, 1865, at which place he was released June 10, 1865, on taking the Oath of Allegiance to the United States.
