One Thousand nine hundred and nine personally appeared before me, a Nortery Public in and for the resident of Fort Meade County of Polk State of Florida, who being duly sworn accordint to law, makes the following decaration in order to obtain a pension under the provisions of Chapter 5885, Laws of Florida, approved June 7, 1909. That she is the lawful widow of Bryant Welch who was enlisted under th name of Bryant Welch in 1863 in Co. H, 9th Regiment of the State of Florida and who was honorably discharged at Cold Harbor on account of wounded in Battle and died from his wounds on 30th day of July 1864. That she was lawfully married to Bryant Welch under the name of Lydia Alderman on the 14th day of October 1847 and that she was not divorced from him and has not remarried since his death, which occurred on the 30th day of July 1864 in the county of Hamilton, State of Florida. That she is a resident of Polk County, Florida and has continuously resided in the Stae of Florida since the 15th day of December 1863. Copied the main page with pertinent information. Last Page - From War Department. B. R. Welch -- War Department, The Adjutant General's Office, Washington September 11, 1909 -- Respectfully returned to the Comptroller, State of Florda, Tallahassee. The records show that B. R. Welch private and corporal, Companies E and H, 9th Florida Infantry, Confederate States Army, enlisted February 21, 1863, and that he died at home July 31, 1864, of wounds received in battle. No later record for him has been found.
