Captain T. J. Bingham died at his home at Eagle Lake on Thursday evening, after an illness of but a few days duration. He had attended a meeting of the postmasters of the state, in Tampa during the fair, and after spending several days there, at the home of his son, he returned on Monday of last week, feeling very unwell. His condition was not thought to be serious until a short time before his death, which occurred as above stated. Captain Bingham was a Missourian by birth and was in the 77th year of his age at the time of his death. He was a soldier in the federal service during the war and his long life had been one of varied experience and adventure. He moved to Florida about eighteen years ago and located at Eagle Lake, which has been his home ever since. He was well known all over Polk county and if any many in the county had more friends thatn "Tom Bingham" he is not known to the writer. And he deserved them, for a more generous, hospitable, warm hearted man never lived. After services at his late home, by Rev. E. Sanford of Winter Haven, the remains of Capt Bingham were brought to Bartow and interred in the new cemetery on Saturday. Deceased leaves a widow and three children: Locke Bingham of Tampa, Mrs. J.E. Marshall of Eloise, and miss Mae Bingham of Eagle Lake. End This is Captain Thomas Jefferson Bingham who moved from St. Louis Missouri to Polk County Florida.
